[how to] bring your old PC to life

Many of us are old PC users and some of us have old PC's (pentium 2 or maybe even 1) somewhere stored.
This is how to make it Useful again!
-- Install a mini-Linux OS (Damn Small Linux, Puppy Linux or other minimalistic distribution), otherwise (my choice) is to create a "light" XP version. Use nLite and remove anything that doesn't fits in your old PC (Gamepad Drivers, MSN stuff, maybe old printers or Graphic Cards)
--It's DONE! You are ready to go! These machines can be used to download stuff from the Internet while your main PC is safely resting...
My old PC is P2 - 233MHz with 64 MB or RAM and 4 GB Hard disk. It boots Windows faster than my main (newer) PC!

PES 6 Exclusive for Xbox 360 for 12 months...

Why? Maybe God hates me...
Why the PES 6 which is the game that I most expect in the world has gone exclusive...
Damnit! Maybe its another M$ trick in order to inspire me to post another hoax...
why Konami (which was creating very good games for PS2 and some for the PC) decided to do that? I think that M$'s failure to sell enough xbox 360 has pushed them to destroy another great game game by taking it exclusive... (Like HALO 2) I don't think that many PES fans will buy x360 in order to play their favourite game. It's stupid to think that anyone would give away 400 euros for 1 game. It would be wiser to built a x360 version with improved graphics, stadiums and other crap, than to take it exclusive. This will only destroy the game's reputation.
O r maybe m$ is jealous of the great PS2 and maybe PS3 games that Konami develops (Metal Gear 1,2,3 and hopefullhy 4 ) and wants to take this company down thae drain along with the X360...
I am losing my favourite game...

Wireless! and Tyrkey

I'm back! just for this post...
I discovered that in 2/3 places I visited the last days all of them had wireless access points (which are all UNPROTECTED). My friend Lego (his blog is placed in my links ) has a psycosis with security, and I now know why. These people had their default router passwords, and by that I could do a very painful damage to their Internet connection.
Anyway I do not intend to do any damage but the thing is that I could do without the owner obviously know anything...
For the second part of this post's title, last night I traveled to Athens with a Train with beds. There were 2 Tyrkish students in the same wagon, so we met and discussed some things. Probably one of the most pleasant trips of my life. We found out that we have a lot more in common than things that separates us.
They were going on a trip to visit all the countries on Mediterranean without booking a single ticket! Good Luck my friends and have a good time...
(Leg is propably gonna block me from his MSN contacts now...)

Hard Drive Halleluja!

Thank God for these USB drives. My 40-GB mobile disk (ide-to-usb) fell off while pluged in and transeffering data and didn't sustained any damage. The height was at least 1 meter (3 feet).
Anyways this post is my last for the rest of the August, though I might hit the net sometime, but nothing is sure...
So goodbye, keep blogging and for God's sake dont use drugs!

Agressive Marketing

Recently, my girlfriend bought a new Acer Laptop 5102 WLMi after my reccomendation. The Laptop is incredible, Dual-Core, 64 - bit... When I opened the box there was only one cd which I thought it would be the Windows XP recovery Disk. BUT NO! It was "Norton Antivirus for ACER Laptops only". Oh MY GOD! Neither the official site nor the e-shop I bought it from mentioned anything like that. Another surpise: Windows were pre-installed and the drivers were not! That means that they built the hard drives and install the OS without the rest of the machine being built. ANyway there was the Acer tool that installed them all.
My point is that I gave around 800 eyros for things I didn't want included on the price.
This is how MS and other companies achieved the monopoly of OSs'. That thing is called Agressive Marketing.
Twenty minutes after I opened the laptop I wanted to format it because it got to my nerves looking at those things.
Damn you Agressive Marketing...

M for Malakas

Perhaps it is the most famous (or should I say popular) word Greek word around the world. It tends to be synonym of the word Greek. Its reputation has surpassed even "souvlaki", "tzatziki", "kalimera".
I spend around 10 days in Athens, which was filled with foreign tourists. Everytime I went out to the Mesogeion Avenue (a main Avenue in Athens) there was a fight held or a dangerous traffic violation or for no reason the word Malakas had been floating around the air and enter violently through our ears.
The official explanation of this word is that malakas is someone who masturbates a lot, or someone who does stupid things all the times. But its meaning is not stable. It basically changes its meaning through the phrases it is used. Even the Greek- Orthodox church uses the word, when a baby is baptised, the priest blesses it to protect it from "every sickness and malakia ( bad things to happen)"
I personally diasgree with the extended use of this word, since there more interensting words in order to offend someone like : Μαχλεπης, κολυγος, πομωνα, κλειδοκαργινιαρης, λινατσα etc.
There is some variety in the use of the word in phrases.Here is a list with the common phrases and some explanations:
-Τι λεει ρε μαλακα; (wassup)
-Σταματα να μαλακιζεσαι (Stop wasting your time)
-Τι εκανε ο μαλακας; (admiration or insult depending on the action of the offended)
-Γαμω την μαλακία μου (I Fuck my sperm (!))
-Τιγκα στην μαλακία ειναι (He does stupid things all the time)
To sum up if someone calls you malaka dont get offended immediatly, stop and thing what you did...

Most of them are not only offensive but also dangerous. E.g. the Muslim episode where calls all Muslims Morrons, and also show many of the "Mohammed Drawings"
Everybody is free to write anything on the Net, but what happens when people are killed because of that?
About 2-3 months ago an Italian Minister wore a t-shirt with one the these so-called "Drawings"
and the next day, 4 people were killed by the rage of the Muslims.
I don't support censorship in any way but I would be happy if some people realised where the limits are. Some people are offended by some things, and I think that the people that made those cartoons would be offended if I say something bad for their country, why do they keep provoking?
Would it be nice if Muslims made fun of Jesus? NO!
So STOP BEING MORRONS you God-Damn pieces of crap in ZipperFish...

The PC-User's Guide to the Galaxy - Don't Panic!

Ah! July the warmest month of the year.
Let's say that everybody goes on vacation. When you leave you leave your PC open to download your favourite movie. BUT when you return OMG! the PC won't enter Windows!
What am I doing now?
Call the technician: No, he is on vacation.
Send back the PC to the company where you bought it? No, I need it tomorrow.
So Formatting the disk is the only thing left.
Before your PC is damaged like that do a back-up every month, or every day if your profession is PC-based.
Always keep your Windows copy near. Also make a DVD with your essentials programs.
Then you should be able to do a tough job on your own.

M$ and you

Sometimes I think that there are companies that challenge us to write posts like that.
Why am I saying that? Check this out
To sum up, Microsoft sends a CD with a virus, with the label: "ALL the software you asked for. Serials Nums included"
I think that M$ is trying to get an unfair revenge to the piracy.
Let me tell you some things before I continue.
Whenever you log on to your m$ OS, m$ knows it.You cannot do anything about that, no matter how hard you try.
Whenever you open Media Player, m$ receives money from your clicks.
Whenever you add a downloaded mp3 in your library knows it.
Whenever you GOD Damn press a button M$ Freakin' KNOWS IT!
SO WHY THE FUNK SENDS A VIRUS CD TO "HACKERS" WHEN THE COMPANY HACKS EVERYONE???
Lets say that you actually bought XP, what do you get? An OS full of viruses WITH the tolerance of M$.
"Yeah but it is so easy to use them" -NO NO NO! Its not easier than Linux or Unix or anything else. Lets say you want to install a program. You need to open setup.exe, then click about 10 times, then when the program is installed, you restart your PC and then try to make it suit in your needs. Time approximatelly 10 minutes.
In other OS you compile them,install, and then fit it in your needs. Time 5 minutes.
why? because you do not reboot for small programs.
I didn't mention of course if you need :WInRAR, Net Frameworks, win installers 3.11.22.5.5.6.6.3.2.65.7.8. or crap like that that are NOT included with your expensive OS.
To sum up: M$ sucks, not for its OS but for its policy to keep the OS in such a bad version. Nothing usefull, you need about 500 mb of downloads in oreder to get your PC working properly.
